• Metridium is commonly known as sea anemone.

• Body is short, cylindrical and radially symmetrical, divisible into three distinct regions, pedal disc, column and oral disc.

• Pedal disc is muscular broad base or foot by which it is attached to the substratum.

• Column is differentiated into two portions a distal thin-walled short capitulum and a proximal thick-walled scapus by a groove and collar.
