• Bangarus is commonly called krait.

• Body is elongated and slender, measuring about 1m in length.

• Head with normal shields and is not differentiated from neck.

• Eyes are moderate size with narrow pupils.

• Loreals are absent, oviparous.

• Carnivorous, feeding on rats, lizards and snakes.

• It is nocturnal in habit and lives in cracks in walls or in heaps of bricks, etc.

• It is poisonous and its venom is neurotoxic.
