·         It is commonly called as true-toad.

·         Skin is rough, dry and warty on the dorsal surface of the body.

·         Eyes are large and nostrils are very small. Tympanum is very well developed.

·         Paired parotid glands are present behind the tympanum, these secrete poison fluid.

·         Teeth are entirely absent.

·         Bufo is terrestrial and nocturnal in habit.

·         Carnivorous, feeding on worms, insects, snails, etc.
